A Model of Continuous Improvement for Teachers of Color

In schools, we create learning opportunities that incorporate students’ diverse experiences into the classroom. However, we do not create differentiated learning spaces for teachers in schools and districts based on their racial/ethnic and gender identities. Travis J. Bristol's presentation highlighted research from a study of Black male teachers in one large urban school district and provided an example of a professional development initiative designed in response to the finding that these teachers experience unique socio-emotional challenges.
